Morning exercise is a great way to fill your body and mind with energy and well-being.

Each one, including children, students, workmen, professionals and businessmen, has many things to accomplish, and all of these require vitality, power and the right frame of mind in order to get done.  You need to prepare yourself physically and mentally for your daily tasks, and morning exercise is one of the best ways to do it.

Motivation is not all it takes to make you develop the habit of doing morning exercises.  You’ve got to have dedication, self- discipline and health consciousness in order to develop the habit.

For your own safety, you need to know the potential risks of morning exercises before you make your first move.  You have to keep yourself protected to ensure that you get the maximum benefit from your morning regimen.

Here are a few safety tips for morning exercises:

1. Eat something before you go

Eat something before you do your morning exercise.  You have to see to it that you have something to keep your metabolism going as you perform your morning physical activity.  Eating light energy-sustaining foods such as granola bar or some nuts 15 minutes before your morning routine can help you stay away from stomach trouble and fatigue as you work out.  Eating light meals before exercising also helps to put off your food cravings after the physical activity.

2. Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking plenty of water before and during your actual exercise is necessary to keep you hydrated during the routine.  Drink a glass of water 15 minutes before you exercise and continue to drink in small quantities every 30 or 45 minutes during your workout.  Be sure to drink water after you finish exercising to ensure that you are hydrated for the rest of the day.

3. Stretch

Stretching before doing your morning exercise is one of the best things to do to avoid injuries or muscle strain.  Stretch your legs, arms and neck muscles and joints to condition them for the early morning routine.  Spend a few minutes walking to ensure that you are completely warmed up before you stretch.

4. Protect yourself from the cold

Mornings are usually cold and you might not be able to stand it when you go out to exercise.  It is a wise idea to bundle up a bit before going outdoors especially when temperatures are low.

5. Bring some light

For exercisers who go out while it’s still dark, a penlight or a light of some kind is an important tool and safety device as it can help you to see.  You can also use it to alert passing motorists of your presence.
